メルセデス・ベンツ日本から、スーパースポーツカーの世界限定モデル「メルセデス･ベンツ SLR マクラーレン ロードスター 722 S」が発売。モデル名はイタリアの伝説的自動車レース「ミッレミリア」において、1955年に勝利したスターリング・モスが操る「メルセデス・ベンツ 300 SLR」のスタートナンバー「722」（スタート時刻7時22分）に由来する。
専用に改良されたエンジンを搭載し、車体の軽量化により、100kmまでの加速時間が3.7秒、最高速度335kmという加速・走行性能を実現。インテリアは、パドルシフト付本革・スエードスポーツステアリング、セミアニリンレザー・アルカンタラシートが装備されるほか、レッドシートベルト、レッドステッチがあしらわれたシートやコンソールがスポーツマインドを駆り立てる。また、専用デザイン19インチマルチスポークアルミホイール、専用デザインヘッドライトなどの特別装備が、他を圧倒する存在感を醸し出す。
